Our ApproachKnowledge Snippets
Knowledge Snippets are short articles that share our insights, expertise, and practical learnings from research, policy, and practice.
Rethinking Well-being
In this article, we explore the ethical and holistic methods we implement for research on well-being and mental health. A combination of clinical tools, occupational therapy observations, and sensory preference assessments is presented to capture the full complexity of participants' well-being. A compelling article for anyone designing people-centred research.
Impact in Action
What does it really take to measure social impact in a community programme? In this article, we draw on our HeppCare trial, a six-week circus-based mental health initiative with 54 participants, to show how combining a Theory of Change, mixed-methods research, and honest reflection on limitations can paint a far richer picture of human change than numbers alone ever could.
The AKUMEN Method
Good research doesn't start with data — it starts with people. In this article, we walk through our methodological approach: how we combine rigorous literature reviews, mixed qualitative and quantitative methods, ethical safeguards, risk management and phenomenological insights to build research that is both scientifically sound and deeply human.
